Privacy Policy
This page explains what personal data OverflowMyBuffers collects, why, and how you can withdraw your consent at any time. It is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Uitvoeringswet AVG.
What cookies are used
OverflowMyBuffers uses Google AdSense to display ads and Google Analytics to understand traffic. Both can set cookies. Consent for these cookies is managed through Google’s certified consent management platform (the GDPR message Google displays), combined with Google Consent Mode v2.
- If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google shows a consent message on your first visit. Until you make a choice, advertising and analytics storage is set to denied by default, so no advertising or analytics cookies are read or written.
- If you consent, Google may set cookies to personalise ads and measure analytics. If you decline, ads are still shown but in a limited, non-personalised mode that does not build an advertising profile.
- Visitors outside those regions are not shown the message; ads and analytics operate under Google’s standard terms.
Your consent choice is stored by Google’s consent platform (not by OverflowMyBuffers) so the message does not reappear on every visit.
What data is collected
If you consent, Google AdSense and Google Analytics may collect and process:
- Device and browser information (user agent, language, approximate location derived from IP)
- Pages you view on this site and browsing behaviour used for ad personalisation, analytics and frequency capping
- Interaction events with ad units (impressions, clicks)
OverflowMyBuffers itself does not operate analytics servers and does not collect personal data directly.
Who the data is shared with
Data collected by advertising cookies is processed by Google LLC and its affiliates, acting as an independent data controller for advertising purposes. Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
How to withdraw consent
You can withdraw or change consent at any time in one of two ways:
- Click “Manage cookie preferences” in the site footer. This re-opens Google’s consent message so you can change your choice.
- Clear your browser’s site data for
overflowmybuffers.com. On the next visit the consent message will be shown again.
Declining or withdrawing consent does not affect your access to the site — all content remains available, and ads simply revert to non-personalised mode without building an advertising profile.
Your rights
Under the GDPR/AVG you have the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data held about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. For data held by Google as a result of advertising, those rights can be exercised directly via the links in Google’s privacy policy above.
