Privacy Policy
This page explains what personal data OverflowMyBuffers collects, why, and how you can withdraw your consent at any time. It is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Uitvoeringswet AVG.
What cookies are used
OverflowMyBuffers uses Google AdSense advertising cookies to display ads on the site. No advertising cookies are placed on your device until you click Accept on the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no AdSense script is loaded and no advertising cookies are set.
A small technical record of your choice (key adsConsent) is kept in your browser’s localStorage for 365 days so the banner does not appear on every visit. This record contains only your decision and its expiry timestamp — no personal data.
What data is collected
If you accept advertising cookies, Google AdSense may collect and process:
- Device and browser information (user agent, language, approximate location derived from IP)
- Pages you view on this site and browsing behaviour used for ad personalisation and frequency capping
- Interaction events with ad units (impressions, clicks)
OverflowMyBuffers itself does not operate analytics servers and does not collect personal data directly.
Who the data is shared with
Data collected by advertising cookies is processed by Google LLC and its affiliates, acting as an independent data controller for advertising purposes. Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
How to withdraw consent
You can withdraw consent at any time in one of two ways:
- Click “Manage cookie preferences” in the site footer. This removes the stored
adsConsentrecord and reloads the page, after which the consent banner will appear again so you can make a new choice. - Clear your browser’s site data /
localStorageforoverflowmybuffers.com. On the next visit the banner will be shown again.
Declining or withdrawing consent does not affect your access to the site — all content remains available without advertising cookies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR/AVG you have the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data held about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. For data held by Google as a result of advertising, those rights can be exercised directly via the links in Google’s privacy policy above.
